Team SG Basketball, 2009 Palarong Pambayan Champ

MABUHAY KAYONG LAHAT!

Happy Birthday: Rizal Province

The province of Rizal marks its 108th anniversary today, which MalacaƱang declared a special nonworking holiday. The day Rizal Province was founded usually falls a day before Independence Day. It was made a holiday by virtue of Proclamation 1790, or the Foundation Day of Rizal, signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.

In a statement, Rizal Gov. Casimiro Ynares III said the province’s “remarkable achievements” in providing services and infrastructure projects to residents would make the celebration much more meaningful.

Activities planned for today by the provincial government are a parade with street dancing, a live concert, a medical mission, a jobs fair and basketball exhibition games, officials said in a statement.

The focal point of the celebrations, however, is Teresa town, which officials picked as the host of this year’s festivities.

On June 11, 1901, the second Philippine Commission headed by William Howard Taft enacted Act 137 officially giving birth to a province named in honor of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The new province consisted of 33 towns with the merging of 19 towns from what was then Manila province and 14 towns from the Morong Politico-Militar district.

Over the years, the territory of Rizal diminished and is now composed of 14 towns after 12 of its most progressive towns were annexed to the area later named Metro Manila by virtue of Presidential Decree 824 issued by then President Ferdinand Marcos on November 7, 1975.

California Statewide Special Election May 19, 2009

Radyo San Guilmo Endorsements:
California Statewide Election

Mga kababayan sa California, $45 billion deficit and tinatahak ng ating state at ipinapasa ng mga mambabatas sa atin ang problema sa pera...

Proposition 1A NO
This measure would make major changes to the way in which the state sets aside money in one of its “rainy day” reserve accounts and how this money is spent. The measure would tend to increase the amount of money set aside in the state’s rainy day account by increasing how much money is put into this account and restricting the withdrawal of these funds.
If this measure is approved, several tax increases passed as part of the February 2009 budget package would be extended by one to two years. State tax revenues would increase by about $16 billion from 2010-11 through 2012-13.
Proposition 1B NO
Requires supplemental payments to local school districts and community colleges to address recent budget crisis. Fiscal Impact: Potential state savings of up to several billion dollars in 2009-10 and 2010-11. Potential state costs of billions of dollars annually thereafter.
Proposition 1C NO
Allows the state lottery to be modernized to improve its performance with increased payouts, improved marketing, and effective management. Requires the state to maintain ownership of the lottery and authorizes additional accountability measures.
Proposition 1D NO
Temporarily provides greater flexibility in funding to preserve health and human services for young children while helping balance the state budget in a difficult economy.
Proposition 1E NO
Helps balance state budget by amending the Mental Health Services Act (Proposition 63 of 2004) to transfer funds, for two years, to pay for mental health services provided through the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program for children and young adults.
Proposition 1F Yes
Encourages balanced state budgets by preventing elected Members of the Legislature and statewide constitutional officers, including the Governor, from receiving pay raises in years when the state is running a deficit. Directs the Director of Finance to determine whether a given year is a deficit year.

Dengue situation in SG, statistics, not sure kung itinatago ang detalye, outbreak?,

health center in SG, clinic but no proper medical equipment, kababayan from US wants to retire but lack of health facility in SG prevent them to stay, retirees will help local economy, create jobs, volunteer, basic med equipment in SG Clinic: weight scale, blood pressure cap,
pregnant collapse and died in Tanawan

Banda Morriz to Perform in Taiwan, Needs Your Help

BANDA MORRIZ of Morong, Rizal is one of the thriving bands in the Philippines. With 60 full-time members from this historic town, the band is a typical town group which produces quality music which is a fusion of traditional and modern harmony, complemented by synchronicity and elegance.

Fortunately, the band qualified as the only Philippine representative to participate in the 2008 Chiayi International Band Festival which will be held from December 20, 2008 to January 1, 2009 in Chiayi City, Taiwan. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the band members to showcase their gift for music, thus promoting the Filipino culture in the global arena.

But sending a contingent with sixty (60) members abroad would entail expenses for uniform, airfare, not to mention the food as well as the accommodation. The following are relatively safe estimates for the trip.

Uniform: 60 pax X P 3,500 = P 210,000

Airfare: 60 pax X P12,600 = P 756,000

Travel Tax: 60 pax X P 1,620 = P 97,200

Terminal Fee: 60 pax X P 750 = P 45,000

Visa Fee: 60 pax X P 2,000 = P 120,000

==============

P1,228,200

We are therefore knocking at your benevolent heart to help send the band to join the festival in Taiwan. Please consider giving an amount you can share. Your contribution will go along way in making the dream of this historic town band become a reality!

Please send your contribution to:

1. Adelaida S. Feliciano – Northern California - 1614 Second Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94401

2. Corazon F. Alejandro – Southern California - 11871 Emerald Street, Garden Grove, CA 92845

3. Rudy & Lucy Bautista – Florida - 9720 94th St. North, Seminole, FL 33777

4. Nelia F. Gutierrez – Philippines - Morong, Rizal

On behalf of the management and all the members of BANDA MORRIZ, thank you for your support!

Very sincerely yours,

Continuing Saga of Filipino WWII Veterans

Some 250,000 Filipinos took up arms against the Japanese with their American counterparts, as regular soldiers or guerrillas in resistance units. Many suffered through the 60-mile Bataan Death March in 1942 or teamed with Army Rangers to free more than 500 prisoners of war from the Cabanatuan Prison Camp.

Having been placed under United States command, the Filipino veterans expected to receive the same benefits and pensions as American soldiers. But shortly after the war ended the government granted benefits only to those veterans in a small Army group known as the “Old” Philippine Scouts.

Now, the government is moving toward fuller compensation for Filipinos like Mr. Braga, who at 81 is among the youngest surviving veterans. On Tuesday, the House by a wide margin passed a bill that would give 18,000 surviving Filipino veterans a lump sum payment. Those who are American citizens would receive $15,000, with noncitizens receiving $9,000.

Tungkor In the News II

Our kababayan from Florida is creating a buzz in the East Coast because of his unique creation. Mr Rey Aquino was on tv news a few months ago, now St. Petersburg Times published an article about him and his famous "tungkor":

--One day during his daily walk through his neighborhood, Rey Aquino noticed a pile of brush on the side of the road. "I grew up in the Philippines," the 73-year-old retiree said. "We walk everywhere, but you always have a hiking stick, nothing fancy, just something you find along the way." So Aquino picked up a stick. Later, when he got home, he took the old branch into his woodworking shop and polished it up. "A friend came by and saw the stick," Aquino said. "He said, 'That looks good. Can you make me one?' " So Aquino went back to the brush pile and grabbed an armful of old oak and Brazilian pepper. "That is how it all got started." Nobody knows for sure who made the first hiking staff. But it is probably right up there behind the rock on the list of first useful tools in human history.

A good strong stick has many functions. For starters, you can use it to smack the nose of a saber-toothed cat that is trying to sneak off with your mastodon steak.

Additional information are available on the attached flyer.

I hope you and your family can help in this much-needed humanitarian event. Kindly forward this email to your family, friends and kababayans so they can be informed. Thank you.

Junior wants his share?

It seems that Governor Jun Ynarez was surprised to learn the planned biosphere facility. Here's his response when asked by Manila Times:

....In a text message, Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares 3rd of Rizal said that he had also just been informed of the Memorandum of Agreement signing but revealed that the matter has yet to reach the provincial level where the board will have to deliberate on its merits, advantages and disadvantages of the said project.

Interesting. Perhaps the governor should listen to RSG's interview with Spectrum Blue Steel CEO, Atty. Ruth Briones. Here it is:

Open Letter from Tandang Sora of Morong

Pagpupugay po.

Mr. Z ng RSG,

What a fantastic and brilliant idea that brought fruition and success to your endeavor to help out and bring to RSG readers, and listeners, and our kababayan the indepth interview of the person/people "responsible" to the Green Project. I personally believed that you excell more than the CNN or Radyo Patrol (RP) in going one-on-one with the head honcho. I am just wondering what the people in our munisipyo are doing all those times when everyone else is clamoring for information about the Green Project....and of course the PhP900M!!

We appreciate your own voluntary effort without the assistance or support of anyone, much less, the SB of Morong, You alone took it without malice, or personal gain attach. Your sense of "maka-Morong" stood out to clear the haze (pardon the pun) over the "garbage" issue. It is still there but the GProject is now making sense. Where the money will go - is another issue.

I am hoping that they appreciate what you have done. I firmly believed that the SB "owes" you one BIG one! Knowing how humble you are you just didd it for your Morong.

We are here to support you and RSG.

Now, I invite our readers to post comments.

Mabuhay G. Zeta at RSG. You did it again!!

Tandang Sora ng Morong at mga ka-isa.

How long is the contract?
How much is your company investing? How long will you recover that investment?
Jobs, Marching of dump trucks, San Guillermo affected.
Would you, Atty Ruth Briones, live next to the biosphere facility like the one being planned in Morong? As you know we have subdivisions in that area.

ANSWERS

Engineer and lawyer, Founder of Spectrum Blue Steel, her legacy
Morong, Rizal is the pilot for biosphere, gassification process, ways of treating waste, incineration - prohibited in Philippines, emits toxic materials

Biosphere, waste in the chamber at 400 deg C, product goes to second chamber at higher temp, photo?? ash to produce carbon blocks or cement, end product of high temperature could be used to generate energy, partnered with Ronald Flynn from US, zero waste

Syngas, product of thermal transformation, at hight temperature, turbine, "synthesis gas", organic fertilizer, synthetic gas

Morong landfill, 10-40 hectares, revenues to town, environmental cost or impact to town, water, another product, will be producing 53,000 gallons of water per hour, carbon zero emission, higher credit , 30 MW equals to 30 tons of carbon credits, Kyoto protocol, environmental issues, industial pollutants, committed to contribute, pay for the pollution they have commited, countries produce machines, operate that has zero carbon, producing carbon credit, clean air, industry will compensate producer

Why Morong? Montalban will be closing, will be transfered to Morong, MMDA, governor of Rizal, Cuerpo, feuding, political differences, incinerator not accepted in the town, proximity of biosphere to Morong landfill, will be using areas, transform the area to clean part, closed facility, no garbage intact, no waste to see, no emission, bio mass technology compare to Payatas,

will operate 500 up to 1500 facilities in the Philippines, cheap electricity, zero tax operation, 50 less than what we're paying currently, will be producing 700 MW per day or 40 MG per hour, solid waste, 1200 tons per day = 700 MW, 4000 tons per day currently, still negotiating, talking to the hauler, landfill will be used by not just MMDA but also other towns in Rizal

enough waste to produce energy, from 4 towns to MMDA, solid waste will never stop, hindi mapupuno ang landfill, no waiting trucks waiting daily, scheduled, not involve in hauling, only in renewable energy, mayors have own contractors,

could produce plenty of local jobs, big group of people, Mayor Buenaventura, from dead town, not the Morong town now, what more with this kind of development, will be window of Asian biosphere, it could be a new city, prioritizing local fols for the job, part of the agreement and contract

MOA, 25 year contract, Morong will assist in establishment, give people to coordinate, provide security, local labor, Morong town will get the share of end product, revenue, role of provincial government, silent, never requires to be part of, quarreling on the revenue, feud, Governor Ynares, function of solid waste is a direct action of the Mayor, its the law, not provincial, no law to talk to provincial government, Mercado

20% of income to Morong, will get another machine after 25 years, not BOT, build and transfer, $84 million facility, investment recover trough carbon credit

Would Atty Ruth Briones, live next to biosphere facility? Yes! walang problema, zero waste, living near Payatas, familiar with the pollution, mabaho, trucks marching to San Guillermo?,

other end products: ash, distilled water, carbon block, organic fertilizer, green energy

Final words, biospeher process is a revolutionary facility in the Philippines, carbon negative, clean energy, it has zero taxation, for investors, has plans for the whole country, plan to make Philippines zero waste energy, Mayalsia, Korea, Indonesia, Spain, Argentina, in US, licensed in Nevada, California, Utah.. I'm going to meet you there.

Your message to Morong community. Nagpapasalamat kay Mayor Buenaventura, promdi, make Morong a zero waste landfill

Morong Mayor signed MOA with International Company

PRESS RELEASE
GEECF: Spectrum Launches Zero Waste Philippines and Gears Towards Cheap Green Energy
Manila, Philippines August 14, 2008 --

Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation had launched this week the Blueprint for Zero Waste Philippines with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with Morong, Rizal Mayor Joseph Buenaventura for the establishment of a pilot Biosphere Gasification Power Plant.

Morong, Rizal, a small town with a population of only 52,000 people and 10,000 households is the site of a forty (40) hectare sanitary landfill generating almost 8,000 tons per day garbage from cities in Metro Manila.

Ronald Shane Flynn, President of Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation announced through a press briefing that initially a 1200 MSW Biosphere facility shall be installed in Morong, Rizal generating about 6-700 MW of green energy per day. The generated green energy shall be sold to electric distribution cooperatives at cheaper price.

Flynn had noted that hope is in sight amidst the cost of rising energy in the Philippines. That indigenous source of energy is fast gaining attention from the Arroyo administration and even with local executives nationwide. He mentioned that under the Medium Term Development Plan for the Philippines, harnessing and utilization of renewable energy comprises a critical component of Philippines' strategy to provide supply in this country. This will eventually, he quoted, purposely lessen Philippines' dependency on imported and polluting fuels.

Flynn has committed to facilitate Philippines' energy sectors transition to a sustainable system with renewable energy as an increasingly prominent viable and competitive fuel option.

The Biosphere process is a gasification which was developed by Dr. Chris McCormack. The process begins with wastes delivered to the Biosphere Chamber being converted into clean combustible gas referred to as "syngas". The syngas is used to produce electricity in a combined cycle gas/steam turbine. The heat generated by the process can be used to produce electricity, superheat steam, heat boiler feed water and distil desalinate seawater.

Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation was granted by the Global Environmental Energy Corporation (Global Environmental: Deutsche Borse: GLI.F) (OTC Bulletin Board: GEECF - News) the exclusive license to Market, sell, promote and operate the Biosphere Process and Technology in the Philippines. (Ruth P.Briones, http://www.spectrumbluesteel.com).

There's a developing special kind of humor at Morong Interactive Tambayan courtesy of Juan Katwiran. Unlike the stories you read and heard, his satirical commentary will surely provide you meliorative intuition. He’s getting a lot of attention that will infallibly reach the radar of our town officials or what Juan's calls Super SB.

Copper Thieves in Agas-as, Discharged Firearms

(MORONG, RIZAL August 12, 2008)--
Copper thieves have hit Sitio Agas-as in San Guillermo, Morong Rizal early this morning. Witness reported that the thieves took about 60 meters of Meralco wire between posts near the highway. The bandits carry firearms and at onetime discharged their guns in the area. No word on injury or how much it will cost Meralco to get power lines repaired.

Araw na araw at me baril at nagpa putok.

Made for Tv date: 8 8 08

by Zoilo Bernardo

(SAN FRANCISCO, CA. August 8, 2008) --
I’m impressed with NBC’s coverage of Beijing Olympics on television and online. First, their live Internet streaming enables you to watch up to four real time video feed. At one time, I was watching simultaneously road cycling, judo, sailing and badminton.

On the tube, while they're showing opening ceremony on national network affiliates, they're also broadcasting fencing on USA Network and boxing on UniversalHD channels all on hi-definition. They also have dedicated basketball and soccer channels.

One of the sports that I love watching is fencing. Yeah' it kind of obscure game but in my opinion, it's the most aggressive and quickest sports in the Olympics. A tournament or championships could be completed in a few hours. I became a fan when our kababayan, Peter C (Ahboy-who happened to be my brother) used to fence in high school and college.

Buhay: Sa Pagitan ng Dekada 70 at 80

Buhay: Sa Pagitan ng Dekada 70 at 80

ni Erich b. Tunque

(MORONG, RIZAL Agosto 7, 2008) --

Luksong kabayo at dirabes. Softball at moro-moro. Patentero o tumbang preso. Taugan o hulugang ginto. Get Physical..let me hear your body talk..

P900 Million Garbage Contract?

This was reported in the July 22, 2008 issue of Manila Times.

Morong keen on tie up with MMDA
Morong town council recently approved Resolution 2008-09, giving Mayor Buenaventura authority to directly negotiate with MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando for a contract that would generate up to P900 million a year to Morong. In return, up to 4,000 cubic meter of garbage will be shipped to the new landfill.
Complete article here.

Another article from Rizal Weekly was posted in the SG Mailing list by Juan Katwiran confirming the above negotiations. Here's what he wrote about the news:

I've the hard copy of this publication and I bought it last April 2008. The title speaks for itsel and indeed the local goverment of Morong is marketing the "hi-tech" dumpsite. Plus, who were the resource persons they've interviewed. It should have been the primary sponsor of this resolution who should have put his insights on this matter. Kon. Dennis Sta. Catalina was the sponsor of the said resolution and not Kon. Dickson San Juan. And it only showed that Kon. San Juan spoke on behalf of the municipal council. Hmmm..I don't know. I'm just curious. I'll scan the front page of the publication, it was disgusting to read.
